TAROT FAQ

Are you wondering about how reading tarot works, if phone readings are accurate, the types of clients I work with or maybe something else? Curious about whether there are clients I won't see or questions I won't answer?

You're not alone! Many of my clients grapple with similar questions, so to help you out faster, I have compiled the most frequently asked questions in one place. Here you go!

HOW DOES READING TAROT WORK?

According to historians, Tarot originated as a card game before evolving into a divination tool. A tarot deck consists of 78 unique cards that a reader uses as a tool to tap into Universal information and uses their intuition to decipher insights from the images, signs, symbols and numbers from the individual cards.

DO PHONE/ZOOM READINGS REALLY WORK?

Phone/Zoom readings are no different from in person readings other than physical distance between the two of us. Not only are phone readings just as reliable as in person readings, they are often more convenient for clients which allows for schedule flexibility.

IS TAROT EVIL? DOES IT INVOLVE DEMONS OR THE DEVIL?

Tarot cards as we know them have been around since at least the 15th century and originated as a card game rather than a divination tool. I use arguably the most widely recognized deck, the Rider-Waite-Smith deck which was released in 1909. This particular deck reflects several medieval Christian images and symbols, including Death and The Devil. As scary as these images may be to someone unfamiliar with the history of tarot, tarot is in no way representative of or influenced by evil, demons or satan.

IS TAROT EVER UNABLE TO ANSWER A QUESTION?

Kind of...there are some things that have to be revealed in time, especially complex situations where major life lessons are at play. Basically, answering the question at this time would influence your decisions and potentially jeopardize your path. However, it’s not so much that the cards are unable or unwilling to give an answer, it’s more that they don’t give a black and white answer; you’ll be given insight to consider instead.

IS TAROT FORTUNE TELLING?

Fortune means destiny, something that is meant to be or is written in the stars; an inescapable fate. Tarot is not fortune telling in the sense that you have no freewill; it looks at where you have been, where you are presently, and opportunities and possibilities in the future based on thoughts, intention, decisions, actions and inactions. Movie depictions of a crystal ball and cards revealing the precise layout of your future where you are a passive bystander is nothing more than movie melodrama (key the Death and Devil Cards to appear). The real power is in your hands through your freewill and ability to change direction on any insights you are not happy with. Tarot is fluid not final.

HOW ACCURATE IS TAROT?

The cards are never wrong, only a reader’s interpretation. There is a difference in memorizing card meanings and learning to interpret the meanings while utilizing your personal intuitive gifts. The same card can have a completely different meaning from client to the next. The cards are just a snapshot of the energy at the time of the reading; thoughts, intentions, decisions, actions and inactions that take place following that snapshot can change the course of events for better or worse. Watch The Butterfly Effect (2004) starring Ashton Kutcher for a great visual of this concept. That’s the beauty of tarot, it gives your insights so that you can craft the future you want.

WHAT TYPE OF CLIENT DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with clients from all races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identity, socioeconomic status, career fields, backgrounds, and the list goes on. I want to make clear that just because I worked in law enforcement, does NOT mean that I will not work with or that I will judge someone with a history of drug use or criminal background. I am here to help the person that truly wants my help, to meet them where they are in their journey. If I am not the right reader for you, I will gladly refer you to someone else who you may feel more comfortable with.

CAN I READ TAROT FOR MYSELF?

Yep! However, there's a difference between asking if you could versus asking if you should. When you are reading for yourself, your conscious mind can rationalize and talk over your subconscious knowing. You will almost always be biased in a reading surrounding you or something you have an emotional or mental stake in. I find it’s much more beneficial to have an outsider with no bias interpret a reading on your behalf if its something of importance or significance.

QUICK FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS

I do not answer “quick follow-up questions” after the reading has concluded due to the constraints of my personal schedule. Please be sure to ask me whatever you need to during our session, and respect my time as I respect yours. If you have follow-up questions, please consider purchasing a follow-up reading.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A READING?

That depends on where you feel you need support, the level of support you are wanting and your budget. If you are having to decide between feeding yourself or paying for other necessities vs. paying for a tarot reading, now is not the time for a reading.

DO YOU OFFER TAROT READINGS FOR EVENTS?

Absolutely! I offer professional, positive and empowering readings for celebrations, receptions, parties and corporate events in and around the Austin and San Antonio area. See Tarot Entertainment.

ARE YOU A PSYCHIC OR MEDIUM?

As a tarot card reader I perform the hardest type of reading, a "cold" or "blind" read. When a client comes to see me, I ask that they initially hold their questions and I first read what the cards have to say without the querent ever saying a word. During readings I often (though not always) receive information in addition to the cards like specific names and situation details; this is what is referred to as ‘psychic sight’. On some occasions I will have a deceased friend or family member related to the querent step forward to either make their presence known or to provide a piece of information or message; this is the gift of ‘mediumship’. While I do have the gifts of psychic sight and mediumship, I am first and foremost a professional tarot reader, at least for the time being; all other incoming information through psychic sights and mediumship is just “extra” secondary info.

HAVE YOU OR WOULD YOU REFUSE TO ANSWER A QUESTION OR SEE A CLIENT?

  • If you’re a jerk or obnoxious, your reading will be instantly terminated,  you will not receive a refund and you will be banned.

  • I won’t read who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Do not come to me with the same questions repeatedly if you have not done anything to change the situation. The situation cannot change if you have not changed.

  • I will not read for a client who has clearly become solely dependent on my assistance to make decisions. You are always in control, and while guidance is helpful, you still have to take responsibility for your life and actions.

  •  I am a professional, my prices and policies are non-negotiable; if you try to haggle with me, I will not read for you.

  • I will not answer questions regarding gambling, this includes fantasy sports and betting sheets. I do not agree with gambling, I have seen it destroy lives and families first hand so don’t even ask. I also will not answer paternity questions because there is the potential for legal repercussions; you can purchase at-home DNA kits from most drugstores. I will not answer questions regarding dates of death. Firstly, we aren’t meant to know that, it’s between you and your Source. Secondly, the repercussions of knowing that information can be extremely detrimental. Speak to any terminally ill patient with a projected life expectancy and you will see the emotional toll it takes. Instead of worrying about when you or someone else will die, focus on how you can live as if you knew how much time you had left on this side.

  • I do not do readings for anyone under the age of 18 without a parent present

  • I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
