Divinely Inspired is designed to introduce you to my favorite creative people in the spiritual and metaphysical community and industry. As you may already know, I strongly believe that we are most in-tune with the Divine (Spirit, All, Universe, God, etc) when we are in the active state of creating, just like children at play. Unfortunately with the rise in popularity and commercialism in all things metaphysical and spiritual, now compounded by the use of artificial intelligence (AI), there is a lot of “stuff” out there that is just that, stuff that lacks any genuine Divine inspiration. My solution? Every so often, I will bring you one amazing creator whose work I believe to be Divinely inspired along with where you can find them in hopes that you follow their journey and gain inspiration for your own creative outlets. We all have the ability to create masterpieces and connect with Source while doing it, let them show you how!
Anyone that has been in the spiritual or metaphysical community and industry for any amount of time knows (or should know) who Amy Zerner & Monte Farber are. I cannot exactly recall what it was that introduced me to them so many years ago, but I have a very vivid memory of when they found out who I was and the start of our friendship. A few years ago I did a Live on Instagram regarding toxic people in the spiritual community that are intent on causing harm, and Amy popped into that live to listen. I was not aware that she (and Monte?) were one of the viewers until she made a comment. Honestly I was shocked that someone of their magnitude would be in my Live, no less leaving a comment. Shortly afterwards I received an invite to be a guest reader on their popular “Ask the Oracles” show, and gladly accepted; I would return twice more as a guest. Over the course of the last few years, I've had the pleasure of getting to know this dynamite duo. I feel incredibly honored to know these two wonderful people who clearly love one another, create Divinely inspired works that come from the heart, maintain their center and connection to Spirit, and protect their peace by avoiding things that are not central to their mission. Amy and Monte truly are an inspiration and positive role models in the spiritual community. Those that wish to one day make big strides either in their creative process, connection to Spirit, or professional development will only be the wiser for heeding their advice and following in their footsteps.

What did you do prior to producing spiritual or metaphysical inspired works?
As I (Monte) always say, when I met Amy in 1974, she was studying astrology and tarot and I was studying Amy, so I learned tarot and astrology! I never judge anyone who doubts either of them or anything "metaphysical," because even though I was reading and trying to live a few of the spiritual books of that time, like "Be Here Now," "Autobiography of a Yogi," and "The Seth Material," my understanding of anything occult was as lacking as most boys from Brooklyn of that time, even a sensitive New Age guy musician. As our understanding grew, tarot and astrology became our language of love, so to speak. It was the lens through which we interpreted the people and the events of our lives.
What was your first spiritual or metaphysical creation, and what inspired you to create it?
At the 1986 American Booksellers Association convention in New Orleans, I (Monte) was selling my "Karma Cards” oracle idea to a British book packager and Amy was speaking with Stuart Kaplan, owner of U.S. Games and a major keeper of the flame of tarot. He loved Amy's art and wanted her to try her hand at a tarot deck. We couldn't agree on a deal, but the "Karma Cards" packager wanted our "Enchanted Tarot" as its follow up. And the rest is our history working together. Those two titles are still in print, still going strong. Up until that time, Amy did her art and sold it in galleries and I (Monte) was a singer/songwriter/musician who was mainly working in the film business as a location scout and bodyguard to Michael J. Fox on the movie "The Secret of My Success.”
It took me (Amy) two years of intense concentration involving finding all the right materials, immersing herself in the journey of the tarot, and perfecting the techniques that I had developed in my fabric collage tapestries that I had evolved over the previous twenty years. I consider "The Enchanted Tarot" to be the first masterwork of my artistic career, since all of life is contained in its imagery.”
What theme do you favor or do you find inspires you the most in your creations and why?
I (Amy) have been portraying Angels, Nature Spirits, Goddesses, Alchemy and spiritually uplifting themes in my work for more than forty years. To me, they never go out of fashion, but it is gratifying to see so many people drawn to these themes now. There is a thirst for positive images with all the negative images in the news. My collages combine different spiritual traditions which stem from my own eclectic spirituality. I believe at the core of every faith and belief system exists the same truth and expressing that truth through my art is my mission in life. My pieces combine ancient wisdoms, different cultures, and time periods with unique imagery and textures.
Monte’s sage-like wisdom and inspiring style of writing makes the mystical accessible and ancient wisdom easy to grasp and fun to experience.
A few of Amy's favorite creations by hers truly
Do you research or spend any amount of time planning before you start working on a piece, or do you just let it flow following more of your intuitive process?
I (Amy) believe our consciousness is connected to the Higher Forces. Through our use of oracles and through the creative process, Monte and I are trying to make a clear channel between us, and our Higher Selves. So we both work very intuitively and let the information flow through us. We have confidence that the answers exist and all you need to do is ask, while you are moving forward doing it, and the answers will reveal themselves. The point is to be clear and focused and to be connected to that spiritual part of your life as much as possible. And so we do daily exercises, rituals and meditations to stay connected.
Some artists or creators work best during certain times of the day or evening, do you have a preference or notice any difference when it comes to your inspiration?
I (Amy) am a morning person and get a lot done between 8 and 3 pm. Monte is a night person and writes from 9 - 2 pm.
Do you follow astrological activity or even just simply lunar signs and phases for your creative process?
We use astrology to help us understand ourselves and each other better, and to understand the cycles and aspects and transits that are occurring. Then you can use your creative potential to do your best with what you have to make things the way you would like them to be. We have always honored the moon cycles.
Do you have any special energy or spiritual practices that you do before, during, or after your creative sessions?
Our lifestyle and way of living is extremely important to us. We are into preventive medicine and immune boosting protocols and have been doing that for forty years. And mental and physical exercises, too. Massage, breathing, yoga, visualizations, affirmations, green juice every day and LOTS of Vitamin C, over 20 other supplements prescribed to us as a result of individual blood tests. Having faith with a positive mindset is so important. We all have to help keep each other’s spirits up and be more kind, caring and loving. Laughter is good medicine.
We eat organically and drink pure water, and we don’t drink alcohol or eat sugar. We go for walks in the fresh air. We count our blessings with gratitude. We are careful and are aware when we get too anxious and try to come back into our center. We try to stay informed but are careful to be aware of toxic information that may enter our brains. Be aware or beware. Be vigilant. Stay grounded. Be creative. Hone your intuitive skills. Get your priorities straight. These practices are essential to us in order to do the work we have been put on Earth to do.
Do you feel a greater connection to the Universe, Spirit, God, All, etc. through being a creator or artist?
Devotion to our creativity is our spiritual path because we believe you are cleansing and healing yourself when you go within and tap into that creativity – it is where all the answers lie. In a very real way, creativity is spirituality. When we wish to create something that has never been before, we must first conceive of it and visualize it in our mind's eye. When we do this, we contact the essence, the spirit of what it is we wish to create. Has this spirit always existed or are we creating that, too? It doesn't really matter, for when we approach living as a creative process, we are emulating The God/dess Force, the creative energy that brings everything into existence, and questions of time and origination become irrelevant.
What advice would you give to those that say that they are not creative or artistic, and it’s just not in their capabilities?
Use our oracle systems! Intuition and creativity are like muscles and can be made stronger from being properly exercised. The best way to exercise your intuition and creativity is to use it consciously. When you learn to use and, most importantly, to trust, it will keep on getting stronger and stronger.
What do you like most about being a creator?
Astrology and the tarot came to be our languages of love as we matured individually and as wife and husband. We found that both of these “mantic” arts helped us learn about ourselves, each other, and other people and events, but they also helped us to make better decisions and otherwise improve our lives. Using the symbolic languages of astrology and tarot card reading is practically guaranteed to improve your intuition, and that is what happened to us. One day, we had the intuitive inspiration to create a book and card set that would help us share our unique take on the wisdom and power of astrology with readers all over the world.
What do you hope your work will bring to the world as a whole, particularly those in the spiritual community or on a personal spiritual journey?
By looking within, using your intuitive powers , astrology, and oracular work, we can identify our special dreams, learn how to develop our personal creative power, make our base secure, and our dreams real. This crusade is not a selfish one. It is the only one justifiable in our time. Creativity is spirituality. By realizing and actualizing our creativity we become a spiritual human being, a most glorious occurrence. A world populated by such people can only make a paradise of our planet, a dream of the ages that is not only technologically possible at this time, but is crucial to our survival as a species.
What is your ultimate personal or professional goal as a creator or artist?
Our mission statement here at The Enchanted World of Amy Zerner and Monte Farber is to brush the dirt of centuries of ignorance off the buried treasure to be found in formerly occult (darkened, obscured, hidden) ancient wisdom. And there's been a lot of dirt to brush off, but we've done it and contributed to making the world a better place for all.
We are excited about the creation of a documentary that is being made about us “AMY & MONTE: A Legacy of Love & Creativity.” It highlights the magical adventures we have experienced together, from our meeting at the filming of a porno movie in 1974 right up to the filming of this documentary in 2023. Our film, conceived, produced and directed by Annmarie Sairrino, is the flowering of our many creative accomplishments and the message we want to send to a world that could really use a jolt of real love, light, and laughter.
